Power is, first of all, relational. . . Power is not about the rule of law, institutions, society, or the state. These are simply the dead forms, or artifacts, that result from past power-laden interactions, or confrontations. . . Power is exercised, not acquired. Everyday interactions contain aims and objectives that make the exercise of power visible and understandable. Power is also never absolute.

  • Organizational Racial Equity Assessments

    Gain an Organizational Snapshot

We start our work with your organization by partnering with you to complete an Organizational Racial Equity Assessment. This will give the organization’s leadership and staff a snapshot of its strengths and areas of growth.

  • Racial Equity Foundational Workshops

Build a Common Understanding of Race, Racism, & Racial Equity

Equity Matters has over two decades of providing workshops. Our foundational workshop is where most of our clients start. We customize our workshops to meet your organization’s needs, including using data from the organizational assessment. The workshops allow us to tailor our foundational content for staff.

  • Racial Equity Skills Lab 1.0

Practice Using the Foundational Workshop Tools

The Racial Equity Skills Labs are intermediate workshop sessions. In these sessions, members will be able to deepen their analysis of racial equity and problem solve work or real-life problems. Participants must complete the foundational workshop before participating in the skills labs.

  • Racial Justice Visioning

Create a Racial Justice Vision & Path

Has your organization built a strong foundation and common understanding of racial equity? The racial justice visioning sessions support transforming learning into a path for action. In these sessions participants establish a racial justice vision and identify organizational focus areas of action for the immediate future.

  • Racial Equity Skills Lab 2.0

Practice Using a Process to ‘Operationalize’ Racial Equity

The Racial Equity Skills Lab 2.0 supports making an organizational racial justice vision come alive. Work teams come together to practice a process to identify their specific role, desired outcomes, and the daily actions that activate racial equity. Teams gain a framework and engage in the practice of identifying the daily actions and interactions that support racial equity (or fakequity - fake equity).
